Pastor David L. Featherstone is the Pastor of the Greater Second Baptist Church. His passion for the preaching and teaching of God's word encourages this fellowship of believers to focus on "Making the Main Thing, the Main Thing."
David Featherstone is the son of the late Willie and Mary Featherstone. He was born the 4th child of 9 children in Blackfish Lake, Arkansas. He is the proud husband of Azzie "Mae" Featherstone for 32 years.
Following graduation in 1971 from Hughes High School of Hughes, Arkansas, David Featherstone attended AM&N/UAPB. He graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
In 1981, he started his own business (Mr. Klean's Carpet & Janitorial Services, Inc.). In 1990, God blessed him to resign from the State of Arkansas as a tax auditor and became self -employed (A leap of faith).
Upon uniting with Greater Second Baptist Church on September 30, 1979, David Featherstone was called into the preaching ministry in 1982. He was ordained as a minister by Dr, Curtis Ridout on January 29, 1989. One of his life's blessings is having the opportunity of being under the pastoral ministry of Dr. Curtis Ridout.
He served as the Pastor of the New Light Baptist Church in Helena, AR from 1990 -1997. In 1997 Pastor Featherstone returned to Greater Second Baptist where he began serving faithfully alongside Dr. Curtis Ridout.
Following the passing of Dr. Ridout, God assigned Pastor Featherstone as the Shepherd of the Greater Second Baptist Church, April 11, 2010. Pastor Featherstone, humble and grateful, he began his tenure as the 13th Senior Pastor of the Greater Second Baptist Church on April 25, 2010.
Pastor Featherstone has a unique teaching style, his sermons contain startling insights with fresh commentary enabling the membership to understand and apply God's word in their lives. During his years a servant for Christ, he has touched the lives of many seeking God's restoration. He encourages the church in "Moving from Membership to Discipleship" while "Making the Main Thing, the Main Thing'.
Greater Second Baptist Church housed Dreamland Academy Charter School from 2007 to 2012 and Covenant Keepers Charter School from 2013 to 2018.
Greater Second Baptist Church has formed a 501c3 organization, the Southwest Housing Association, Inc. The organization’s first development Curtis Ridout Manor at 5816 Geyer Springs Road Little Rock, Arkansas and will be affordable housing for seniors and veterans.
